In 1937, Jean Cocteau offered Elsa Schiaparelli a drawing that inspired the designer to create a coat. Embroidered by Lesage, this piece was part of her Autumn 1937 Haute Couture collection.
Thanks to an optical illusion, two faces in profile could be also perceived as a vase filled with shocking pink roses poised atop a column. This motif was placed on the back of an evening coat in blue silk jersey.
